Larry Potterfield, CEO and Founder of MidwayUSA, teaches the process of using TIG welding to repair broken gun parts. TIG, or tungsten inert gas, welding is an arc welding process that uses a tungsten electrode to produce the weld. Argon gas is used to protect the work piece from contamination&#8230;.

This GunTec presentation covers the process of annealing, or softening, casehardened parts so that they can be polished prior to the finishing process. Larry Potterfield, CEO and Founder of MidwayUSA, starts this process by packing each part inside a metal canister, also referred to as a crucible. The parts are covered with charcoal to prevent scaling as they cool. Once the canister is full, it is placed inside the furnace which is heated to 1500 degrees F. The parts are held at that temperature for two hours and then allowed to cool.</p>

The fastest way to remove rust, gunk, or old finish is to use a beadblaster. In this GunTec video Larry Potterfield, CEO and Founder of MidwayUSA, cleans the barrels and small parts off a Parker shotgun. Using a standard beadblsting cabinet and fine bead abrasive, this job is quick and easy.
